Medacted is a free daily game. One disease dossier, every meaningful word blacked out. You uncover it a word at a time, then name the disease.

HOW IT PLAYS

Guess any word. If it appears in the file, every occurrence is uncovered at once, including plurals and related forms, so lung also uncovers lungs. Small joining words are shown from the start and never count.

The file index shows the eight sections of the dossier and which ones your guesses are opening up. When you think you know, diagnose the disease by any of its accepted names: “heart attack” counts for myocardial infarction. You get three shots at it, and hard mode allows only one.

RANKS

Rank goes on how much of the file you needed before you named the disease, not on how many guesses it took to get there. A rare disease and a household name are scored the same way.

• CONSULTANT: named it with 12% or less uncovered
• RESIDENT: 20% or less
• INTERN: 30% or less
• MED STUDENT: more than 30% uncovered
• COLD CASE: gave up

Each wrong diagnosis costs you ground on that share, and missing all three shots closes the case.

Rumour of a fifth rank persists. It is not listed here.

HARD MODE

Hard mode hides the section headers, turns off spelling forgiveness, and allows exactly one diagnosis: get it wrong and the case goes cold.

THE FILES

Every dossier is written in textbook register across eight clinical sections, from INTRODUCTION to PROGNOSIS. Each is independently verified against national clinical guidance (NICE, UKHSA, CDC) and the series is clinician-edited. Even a case you never crack leaves you knowing one disease better than you did yesterday.
