Medacted has no accounts, no cookies, no third-party trackers and no ads. We do not know who you are and we have no way of finding out.

The game loads nothing from anyone else. Fonts, images and code are all served from this site, so opening a page does not hand your address to a third party the way an embedded font or script would.

WHAT STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE

Your streaks, stats and completed games are stored only in your browser's local storage, on your device, along with whether you have seen the briefing and a copy of the day's file so a refresh mid-game costs nothing. They never leave it. Clearing your browser data clears them, and there is no copy anywhere else.

WHAT LEAVES YOUR DEVICE

Two things, neither of which identifies you.

• A request for today's file. Each day's puzzle is encrypted, and the game asks our server for the key that opens it. The request contains nothing but the date.
• One line about a finished game. When you finish, the game records the date, whether it was solved, how many guesses it took, how much of the file was uncovered, the rank, and whether hard mode was on. This is used to see whether a file was pitched too hard or too easy.

That record contains no identifier of any kind: no name, no account, no device or session identifier, no advertising identifier, and no time more precise than the date. Two people who finish the same file the same way send exactly the same information, so it cannot be traced back to either of them, and it cannot be used to tell whether you have played before.

SERVER LOGS

Like any website, the servers that deliver the game receive your IP address in order to send the page back to you. Our hosting and database providers (Netlify and Supabase) keep short-lived operational logs for security and reliability. We do not read those logs to study players, and we do not join them to anything above.

CHILDREN

Medacted is a general-audience word game. It collects no personal data from anyone, of any age.

YOUR RIGHTS

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to show, correct or delete on request. To remove everything Medacted has put on your device, clear your browser data for this site. In the iOS app, deleting the app removes both its stored progress and any result images it wrote while sharing.
